River Monnow
Early afternoon we drove to nearby Monmouth town (South Wales, UK) for a quick shop and to meet up with friends and neighbours at Cafe Nero (other coffee shops are available).
All night Storm Bert battered our bedroom velux window, and the raging wind and rain continued as we sat chatting and enoying our coffees. Just before driving home I stood on the river bank looking at the medieval Monnow Bridge (1272AD) to see that the River Monnow had flooded it's banks and was approaching the top of the bridge arches. The ducks seemed to be enjoying the flood!
The extra is of Vauxhall fields at the other ened of Monmouth town behind the old Naval Museum that had flooded the fields.
Early this morning I put a gammon in the slow cooker with oranges, celery and cinnamon that I left cooking for nine hours. It smells wonderful and as usual will make wonderful gammon sandwiches with home made chutney!
Good to be dry, warm and safe as the storm continues!
