Loch Katrine
I decided it would be nice to visit the new ‘Scenic Tower’ which opened at Loch Katrine in July. It was a lovely sunny day as we drove to the Trossachs. When we arrived in Aberfoyle we founds that the Duke’s Pass from Aberfoyle to Loch Katrine was still shut after yesterday’s snow so we had to go the much longer way round via Callander. By the time we got there, the sun had gone and it was very grey with a cold wind. The tower itself is a nice construction, with three platforms from which to view the loch with excerpts from ‘The Lady of the Lake’, by Walter Scott, published in 1810, inscribed on the fencing.
The cafe was rather unappealing so we gave that a miss and after a short walk, headed home again over the pass which had opened but still had some snow. A quick dash into Tesco took a bit longer as it was hugely busy, perhaps because people couldn’t get there yesterday?
A quiet afternoon then dinner to make for my daughter coming round, the meal was rather disappointing, not my best. Just one of those days!
