5th Floor

I have had quite a day - not a single moment of being "mundane". It has been long, with a full 12 hours between leaving home to catch a bus at 07.33 and getting back via the 18.10 from Edinburgh.

A day with many highlights.

I spent most of it being paid to put lipstick on pigs, and part of the reward was the excellent food in the Scottish Parliament's staff canteen at lunchtime. Their coffee is good too.

The staff canteen is usually a politician-free zone (MSPs have their own one) but Ed Mountain* of all people decided to grace us with his presence today. Very odd.

It made me think of this joke

I narrowly avoided Scotland's favourite Canadian politician** at my coffee break, and the joke came to mind again.

After my escape from the 5th Floor I headed for the (Original) Mosque Kitchen to load up on cheap chicken bhuna while waiting for the worst of the Edinburgh rush hour to pass.

That bus journey back was not risk free. I was tired. It was dark. The bus was warm and comfortable. My stomach was full. The bus was heading for Inverness. I could easily have fallen asleep and woken up in the Highlands.

My Blip is the view from a 5th Floor window as darkness fell and I started to think curry thoughts.

* A Tory list MSP whose real name is Sir Edward Mountain, 4th Baronet. The family owns estates in Hampshire and on Speyside.
** Lorna Slater MSP - a Green, and fall guy for the ill fated bottle deposit return scheme.
