Cornish mining heritage

This morning I was in Redruth. As I haven't needed to go there for a while it was very good to take a walk around.

All Cornish people are very proud of their mining heritage and this is particularly true in Redruth, where the last Cornish tin mine (South Crofty) closed in 1998. The head gear wheel of South Crofty Mine stands in Redruth as a testimonial.

My extra shows Kresen Kernow, which houses Cornwall Archives, a very rich resource of documents, maps and photographs, together with the Cornish Studies Library. The building was formerly Redruth Brewery and its transformation into the Kresen won a RIBA award.
