A red kite flies over the valley and the garden

I felt quite exhausted after being very busy last week which then ended with two long days at the market on Friday and Saturday.The torrential rain on Sunday gave me the excuse to stay indoors, but on Monday I needed to get organised.

Fine weather arrived by the afternoon so I took the opportunity of going to sit in the cabin on our patio, with the door wide open and a camera at the ready watching the many birds in the garden busy gorging on the sunflower feeder.

But as  opened the door I looked up and saw a red kite being chased by two crows as it flew towards me across the valley. I primed my camera and was pleased that it started to circle to fend off the crows who were intent on driving it off. 

The kite began circling and gaining height and as it did so it became harder to photograph. I only managed a couple of snaps, none of any great quality, but I always like to record these more unusual visitations, so I present it here as an emergency blip..
