Making It Into A Balloon Afternoon

We were intending to head back to the coast today for some sea air and last minute present shopping for my sister's birthday but the weather intervened again with a return of yet more grey and overcast conditions.
So we therefore decided on the much shorter trip back to Rochester. No sooner had we arrived than of course the sun came out but by then it was too late to change our destination. Rochester itself was very quiet as it appears more than half the shops are closed on a Monday. Thankfully we still managed to secure the final presents we needed - a vintage salamander bracelet and a lovely glass scent bottle.
Today's trip wasn't really about capturing any images but we'd taken our cameras with us anyway and it was then that I suddenly started seeing balloons everywhere. I couldn't resist today's main image when I saw this couple stop outside a sushi and bubble tea establishment on the High Street, with the rather wonderful name of Boba Tigers, and her glorious red hair just seemed to align with the paintwork and the orange balloons. The extra was was a doorway further along the High Street crammed with even more orange balloons - although I'm not quite sure there was enough to correspond with the door number. So our micro trip actually turned out pretty well - presents secured and images captured.
When we returned home I helped my brother finish making my sister's birthday cake - a triple layer Bonfire cake with ginger and cinnamon sponges, buttercream, treacle toffee sauce and pecan brittle. I say 'help' but it mostly involved me locating ingredients around the kitchen, washing up and licking the spoon after he'd finished! :-)
