To the Lighthouse
How fortuitous that today's wild Wednesday challenge was lamp or light for it was such a gorgeous crisp morning we decided to go to the end. The end being the very tip of the Sheep's Head which is graced with a small lighthouse, built in the 1960s to guide tankers into Bantry Bay - than national oil reserve is on Whiddy Island useful fact of the day. There was no wind and it all looked mighty. This is the view back towards from whence we came. What is must be like to live in those cottages - mainly holiday homes now but I think there are a couple of permanent residents.
Back home and the sun still shining, I made a start of tidying up in the polytunnel - beans downs, vine trimmed.
And now it's part 3 of the Irish mythology course - Cuchulain tonight, the main hero of the Ulster Cycle and a focus of many incredible stories.
My zoomy thing last night on Glastonbury was excellent, given by an extremely engaging speaker - Emeritus professor of Vernacular Religion for the Open University. She knew her stuff, did a mean powerpoint and opened up all sorts of interesting avenues, Being Glastonbury there were a few weird and wonderful facts - apparently there is a chap there who believes he is the reincarnation of Jesus, the Buddha and Arthur - all at once! Seems a bit greedy.
