Noble's Rest

Lots of jobs in Kendal and a walk round town to get my step count up.  The memorial stone you can see tells us that the park was donated by Mary Noble in remembrance of her husband who "spent his long life in loving service of others". 1928.

Noble had been a medical doctor in Kendal. He was also Surgeon Major of the 2nd Border Regiment (Volunteers). During WW1  aged nearly 80, he undertook,  without remuneration, the examination of military recruits in Westmorland.
