Life through the lens...

By ValC

Goosander.

Thank you for the stars and hearts for my heron blip yesterday.
Sorry it’s another bird for today’s blip.
This time a female Goosander. Taken while out walking with the Pudseys along the Leeds Liverpool canal.
Couldn’t resist the lovely reflections.
Such a perfect day for a walk. Cold and frosty, blue sky, sunshine and no wind.

A 6 mile walk from Rodley. Part along the river and back along the canal.
Part of the walk we hadn’t done before and I was very surprised to come across a vineyard!
Knotfield Vineyard. 2022. Established by best friends Laura and Sophie.
See extra photo.

Tucked away in the heart of Rawdon village ( outskirts of Leeds)
2 acres.
3123 vines.
Grape varieties: Pinot Noir Précoce, Seyval Blanc, and Bacchus.
Small yield crops of intensely flavourful grapes go to make two sparkling wines.
Rawdon Rosé and Classic.
“ Each bottle of Yorkshire Sparkling reflects Knotfield’s ethos - celebration.
A celebration of Yorkshire , of friendship, of life - and all the special moments along the way.”
All sold out, and at £30. a bottle too.

We finished off in the Barge Pub for drinks.
I had my first mulled wine of the season. Warming and delicious!

In America it’s Thanksgiving Day.
So today I am thankful for the beautiful sunshine, the company of friends, and the beauty of nature all around us.
