Butterfly bonanza
Mr H's parents are here for the weekend, so we had a very gentle walk on the moor this afternoon before the rains that are forecast hit us. We are going for a meal this evening very near to where I did the Last Post for the Canadian Memorial that I blipped back in JanuaryOakworth Canadian memorial but Reggie needed a good run so we took his ball thrower and made sure that he walked (ran) 20-30 times further than we walked.
I can't remember the last time I saw so many butterflies. My lavender hedge is full of common whites which I photographed, but a patch of thistles on the moor was just covered with these Small Tortoiseshells (Aglais urticae) . There were also some little brown ones on the ragwort, but I am not sure what they are, so I decided today's photo is the Tortoiseshells.
Blip snap with Corinthian Column today too.
