Candy castle
One of my team drew the picture, then photographed it and we projected onto the screen to depict the entrance to the sugar plum fairy’s castle. The first delivery, a pilot workshop of The Nutcracker, offered free of charge to a local school. The head has become a friend over the years and Di mention there were a few special needs but the team were not prepared for them all. I have laughed today! 35 children aged between 4-8 and at least a third with additional needs. One little girl ran around the whole time, across the stage, among the audience, dancing round actors, all with her 1:1 adult in hot pursuit. One little boy (deep voice) just chanted the whole time, when will it end, it’s too long, when will it end etc etc! And finally, the boy playing the mouse king just kept shouting Battle in a loud voice. I think my heart almost stopped when the leader handed him a sword to ‘just pretend’ to fight the Nutcracker Prince. I shouldn’t have worried, she’s very experienced and had whipped it back out of his hand after his first step forward.
A great fun if strange day! Definitely missed having Stalker to share it with.
