Performance II
One last trip to the castle this morning before I head off. It's undergoing a transformation of its own just now as the preparations for the Military Tattoo reach completion. The Half Moon Battery is festooned with weather sealed floodlighting and cables. Each night from this platform, the lone piper will bring the nights performance to a close, the skirl of the pipes floating down from on top of the battlements. Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The Tattoo is on from 2nd - 24th August this year and if you can still get tickets, I'd thoroughly recommend a visit.
The unseasonably good weather continued this morning and the crowds queuing to get into the castle were testament to start of festival season. When I arrived, the queue led out of the portcullis. When I left, it was halfway down the esplanade. Of course, being a HS member i got to walk past them all. The clouds came in while I was wandering around the castle and the rain has just started. Summer has finally arrived!
One last look...
4 sleeps!
