National Gallery

Apologies, I took this photo yesterday evening from the top of the steps leading into the National Gallery looking out across Trafalgar Square, where the Christmas Market was in full swing at 6.30pm.

I have noticed this week that there is a friendly, low key, but noticeable, police presence in London (you can see the high-viz jackets among the crowd).  The terrorism threat level is "substantial".  But it's not deterring the tourists - London is crammed!

We were on our way to a private view of the sensationally good Van Gogh Exhibition, lucky for us as it is sold out.  It focuses on the two years that Van Gogh was in the South of France before his death, and it's breath-taking - a few details in the extra.
