Kernow
After a brief dash around the damp fields with Dippy I headed off to Bideford to collect an application form for a flat let out by a local trust.
Form collected I then headed down to Liskeard in Cornwall to see an orthopaedic spinal consultant regarding my injuries sustained in February. It was a long journey with roads in the area under repair or not with several diversions.
The consultation was fascinating, I was shown the x-rays of my spine in full detail. If damage had occurred a few millimetres higher up my spine it would have most definitely have rendered me disabled. My spinal cord was curved and compressed by the vertebrae above Lumbar one which was crushed and sent fragments into the spinal canal. Quite an eye opener indeed for me and my drive home was quite emotional realising how fortunate I am.
The good news is that in a few years I should be without some of the issues that are bothering me at this point in time.
On the way back to Barnstaple I had a break at St Ive (no s) to explore the church and its surrounding graveyard.
Next I headed back for the Christmas lights turn on in town as our choir was performing Christmas carols outside the Queen Anne tea rooms.
Fun and laughter together with an amazingly well supporting crowd made it a memorable event culminating in a festive drink in the local Wetherspoons!
A full day for sure.
