Boxcar

Well, the last night swim has just been swam (swum?) in the pool at the villa here in Lanzarote, we're flying home tomorrow teatime to get on with life, with reality, back in Edinburgh.

Today has been summat of a scorcher and we've kept it very local indeed. I did pop 50 yards up the lane to the communal pool morning and afternoon to get my lengths in, but apart from that...

Evening meal out at the very nice local Italian, somewhere we've never been before but we'll be back for sure, all very friendly and exceptionally tasty indeed.

The song I'm about to link to was playing in the supermercado on the walk home from the restaurant. I felt duty bound to tell my partner the story of how I bought the 12" of said song way back in 1989. Namely...we were coming home from Glastonbury on the Monday in a minibus driven by one of our mates, all stinking, all unwashed since the previous Thursday, half asleep, half alive, and when we got back in to Sheffield I had to get dropped off at the geography building to meet my tutor and get my 2nd year exam results before the place shut at five. Just made it and I staggered/stumbled in to Dr. White's office in my grubby Pixies T-shirt and DMs where he gave me all my results and basically explained that as long as I didn't slack off completely in my final year I'd pretty much done enough to secure a 2.1. So, buoyed with that information, I hopped, skipped and jumped my way home to Hunters Bar via Broomhill where I called in to Record Collector to pick up summat I was after that I knew had been released that day. A classic!
