Holes in the house!

The guys arrived to fit our windows. They arrived at 8 o'clock and were soon removing the first two old windows. It felt very strange as the windows and then the frames were taken out and we basically had two large holes in the house! (It was minus 3°C outside.)
However, within half-an-hour the new windows were in place and the room was warming up again. The new triple-glazed windows were there but not the coaming, window shelf, or mouldings, all that will be fixed on Monday. But the windows are there, it's weather- and draught-proof, so we can live with a lack of finish over the weekend. :-)
Like most people we have had less than positive experiences with builders, but these guys were very professional. They explained what they were doing, showed us each stage of the job, mentioned some old damage they found and assured us it was no longer a problem. They explained why there was a problem with one of the seven windows, and how they had solved it, and how we didn't need to worry about it. They wore the clothes, and safety boots, provided by the company, neat black carpenter gear, so they looked the part too. It was very reassuring. Being youngish and human they weren't perfect. They didn't use protective goggles or hearing protectors as they wielded the noisy power tools, but that's the way it is with young people who feel immortal.
Anyway, by 3 o'clock they had all seven new windows in place. They cleared up the debris outside and then headed home for the weekend, home, to see the family and kids as they expressed it.
Being up so early in the morning is not my normal life. It was completely dark when we got up. But it didn't stay that way and the sunrise was really spectacular. Maybe I should be up earlier more often. Two extras of the sunrise and one of the windows.
