St Mary’s Thurnham

A second beautiful late November day albeit with a little more wind than yesterday’s beautiful calmness. Susan is trying out the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Bench at St Mary’s marking the 60 years of her reign. The bench was provided by the Bearsted and Thurnham Society, of which I am the Membership Secretary.

After a HIIT and late breakfast we walked up to the village of Detling for a coffee from the Community Shop which we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine overlooking the Vale of Holmesdale.

We walked back through the extensive vineyards along the North Downs which are now pruned and dormant ready for next year.

An early dinner as we were seeing Rick Wakeman’s Yuletide show at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone. The second concert in as many nights.

What a wonderful performance it was. He was accompanied by his son Adam and the singer Mollie Marriott. Old classics from his days of Yes and as a solo performer were mixed in with Christmas songs, Piano Pieces and witty interludes. A great evening indeed.
