A waterfall..

..of clouds tumbling over Foinaven and Arkle..

Durness Games, cont..

..the grey Haar creeping in from the sea making everything gloomy. We'd sold out on the stall, so I dismantled it and loaded onto the trailer. Had a walk around, taking in the atmosphere of the event (don't normally have time to do this as we're stuck on the stall).

Pipers are piping, the marching band is marching, the girls are hornpiping, and the races are run with the fiercest competition. Weights are thrown, along with hammers and shot. Cabers are tossed, but not today, as the event came to an abrupt halt with a thunderstorm.

I've experienced many thunderstorms, but I think this was the most severe. The sky was black, raindrops the size of marbles, and after 20 minutes sat in the back of the car with Tanni, we braved it and dashed to the front seats. You can normally estimate the distance of the storm by counting between lightening flash and thunder crash. Here, the thunder and lightening were instantaneous.

We managed to get out of the pond that was a grass field only ten minutes previously, and out onto the road for the 25 mile drive back to Scourie. This is probably the most scenic piece of road in the whole of the British isles, but through wipers set on fast, and still not coping, the view was hard to see. The moorlands either side were awash with flowing torrents, and Beinn Spionnaidh had a water chute that would have rivalled Niagra.
Ten miles down the road, past Kinlochbervie, the roads were dry..

Then to the dance in the evening, Ceilidh Trailers, and Scottish dancing. Robbie Shepperd would be proud of us. One or two beers were consumed..

Today has been fairly busy too, a harvest of veg, create invoices, and then delivery. Also the eggs that we didn't do last night. Donalds 65th Birthday party, and M coming round for a drink later.

Cath's 90th birthday tomorrow, so a trip to her party in Culbokie where she's staying with G's brother..
