Sheòl an Iolaire - air falbh

The installation entitled "Sheòl an Iolaire" was removed this week, as it was starting to disintegrate, under the influence of wind, sea and tide. It lasted for 6 years, and was put up to commemorate the centenary of the sinking of HMY Iolaire on 1st January 1919, with the loss of 201 souls. These sailors had survived up to four years of war, only to perish on the doorstep of their native island.
Now that the installation is gone, I have added the Gaelic words "air falbh", "away" to the name.
The Iolaire sailed - away.
