Spiral walk

Every time (when it's light, at least) we drive along the M90 we pass some artificial hills with things on top, today we went to visit them.
They were made on the site of an opencast coal mine and the area around has been left to its own devices, more or less, with several lochs. There is one set with 3 peaks like this and at least one more plain one. There is a spiral path up with a separate one down - made so the lorries carrying the pit spoil didn't have to pass the ones going down. There are these old bits of machinery and some rocks laid to make a map of Europe. This https://sobt.co.uk/fife-earth-project/ explains a bit more of what is there and why there isn't more.
Today Mr Rat is 70 and we started the day with parkrun and then went to meet daughter and family (one was missing as he's at Uni) for lunch and a walk up these hills. It was rather grey but dry.
