Hill Top Ramblings

Something new…

Finally a few moments of peace, so I unwrapped a bundle of fabric that has been tantalising me for many months. It’s a selection of fabrics to make a quilt top called ‘Sailor’s Valentine ‘.
A sailor’s valentine was made up of collected cowrie shells carefully arranged and stuck to a board. These would be gifts when a sailor’s returned home after a long voyage away.
This fabric was inspired by the story, and created by Philip Jacobs, one of Kaffe Fassett’s designers, and himself an avid fossil and shell collector who lives on the Jurassic Coast.
When I first saw the fabric I knew I had to use it, and I love the subtle colours and almost 3D effects.
Now, I just need a few more moment of peace….
