‘Conversations’
Or The Day I Met My Daughter’s New Boyfriend’
It’s important
These coming togethers
First impressions are formed
by a smile, good manners.
A certain protocol should be followed
Introductions, shaking hands
A remark here and there.
A cautious launch
Into a possibility
Of who knows.
Well, who knows?
When we meet a new person
We open ourselves
to reveal ourselves.
To share our worlds
Our different worlds
With common threads.
A longing for authenticity
allowing us to reciprocate
and share what is dear to us.
Music, Art, Thin Lizzy, dogs,
the natural world
in all its Beauty.
Learning from another;
This willingness to learn
the simple and complex.
The outward ripples
caused by one small splash
in the Pond of Life,
as we plunge deeper into the undergrowth.
Relationships start in many ways;
A friendly smile is the starter’s gun.
