Mary's Voice
Advent has arrived, the time to prepare for Christmas - the lights in Mourão, and on the castle were lit tonight, really lovely.
We spent the day in Elvas, at the bazaar to raise money for the upkeep of the English cemetery, and then a leisurely lunch with the stall holders. Here is Rebecca, who did really well with her warm mulled wine, Christmas cake and various jams made by Primrose.
And then the evening at Stephanie's, at a lovely get together of folk we know, but rarely see - Irwin in extras, putting on some music, just because I like the photo.
Have started reading an Advent book, with both my daughters - Mary's Voice, by Dr Amy Orr-Ewing, which looks at the Incarnation from the point of view of the person who is absolutely central to the coming of God into the world, the girl into whose womb he would enter our history. Here is the first in a series of videos by Orr-Ewing, in case you'd like to follow as well.
"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" (Luke 1v34)
