Advent at the orchard
The day was a tad dreich but it didn’t stop lots of folk of all ages coming along to our community event. It was heart-warming to overhear one lady saying how much she looks forward to this every year and that she still uses items made in previous years. My job was to fry sausages for the long queue of people waiting for either a bacon roll or a sausage roll but I did manage to take time out To have a look around as the queue and the supplies of fillings diminished. My main caught some children decorating gingerbread men with a completed Christingle orange in the foreground. The extra shows work in progress at the wreath decorating workshop. There was also a workshop for Yule log decoration and another where candles could be made for the completed Yule logs. The hot rolls, waffles, hot spiced fruit punch and marshmallows toasted over the fire pit all kept hunger at bay. It’s a fantastic community event to be part of.
