Pretty bird

I am astounded and humbled by the response to yesterday's blip. Thank you all so much. It made a photo that was special to me even more special.

I went back to the same spot today hoping to catch a different dragonfly laying. The one I thought I would catch yesterday and spotted this bird in the surrounding trees.. I must look very strange to people creeping through the bushes with my camera up to my face.

I would be grateful if someone could tell me what it is.

EDIT: OK I stopped being lazy and went and looked and by the time I got back other people had already told me.. I found it was called a Common KIngfisher and was disappointed.. It was too beautiful a bird to be called common.
