Early Christmas
As our daughter-in-law is scheduled to work all through the festive season bar the public holidays and the little fact that we will have a houseful with our Spanish contingent staying, they cane down to spend the day with us. Or do we’d planned. A pesky hair appointment which was later in the day than marked in the diary meant they didn’t arrive till late afternoon.
At least it gave us a bit longer to get organised. The frozen turkey crown I’d bought earlier in the week defrosted in time and was quite tasty along with the usual trimmings. We were pretty full after chicken liver pate to start and eventually managed some sherry trifle around 10pm.
They both seemed pleased with their stockings and gave us some wee gifts, Guiness flavoured coffee for Mr PHL and a gorgeous Labrador topped wine bottle stopper. And there are presents under the tree for the big day itself! Exciting.
