WINTER LAPWING
I had to dress in festive sparkles today for a lunchtime performance by our care home choir which seemed to go down well. The staff provided drinks, mince pies and cake for the interval which was lovely of them, although I didn't partake. We finished early enough for there still to be a bit of daylight so I went down to the prom for a few minutes on my way home and blipped some of the birds waiting on the rocks for the tide to start going out. It's a good place for photos as the high tide had made them all crowd up below the sea wall - today there were lapwings, ringed plovers, oystercatchers, turnstones and dunlins all in the space of a few yards, and quite possibly some others camouflaged amongst the rocks. Ringed plover and oystercatchers in extra.
I had hoped that singing and fresh air would chase away the headache that's been niggling since I got up, but it's still here. I expect it'll be gone by tomorrow.
