Mary Delaney at Beningbrough
Back blip from Saturday. We went across to the national trust property at Beningbrough. There’s an incredible exhibition of photographs of botanical images by Mary Delaney. She made these as collages with watercolour paper, and they were fabulously detailed and botanically correct. She was in her 70s when she started making these in the late 1700s and the detailed images on display are 4 times life size. It was incredible (I’ll add some extras) so if you’re able to get there then I highly recommend it. The originals are in the British Museum but can’t be displayed because they are so fragile.
There were a couple of interactive art projects responding to the exhibition, and my main blip is my arrangement of some beautiful textile leaves.
