Fortunately, a child noticed the water on the floor and alerted us that the toilet was leaking, though it turned out to be the sink leaking where someone had not screwed the top bit of the plug back into the plug-tube beneath after taking it off to encourage the water to drain (without doing anything as drastic as actually clearing the glagged hair and soap out), leaving only a small bit of sealant holding it in place, which evidently gave way. No-one has owned up to being responsible for hair getting into the sink - it's very shallow and barely suitable for washing hands, never mind heads or faces, and the hairs seemed too long to have come from hands. I shall attribute it to the three other people in the house with longer hair than me.
