Northern Belle

A trip to Leeds today for lunch with Tom, my son. I was a little late arriving due to another public transport fiasco - this time the trains were fine, but the buses into Huddersfield chaotic, so I missed the train I intended to catch, and the following one too (by 3 minutes)!

We enjoyed a very good lunch at Friends of Ham, with a glass of wine, and caught up with each other's news. Then a look round a couple of shops. The ceiling display in the cookware department at John Lewis was a little disconcerting (extra) - wooden chopping boards hanging down, and in another area, wooden rolling pins. Hope they were firmly fixed!

Finally a coffee, aromatic and delicious, from a tiny shop in one of the arcades. Sadly, then time to catch our trains home. As I waited for the train the Northern Belle pulled into the opposite platform - a very shiny  exterior, and very sumptuous interior, with individual lamps on tables that were obviously set for dinner. Googled it later in the evening - luxury train journeys with fine dining for the very rich!
