St John's Garden
There is a little public garden behind my flat in London. It was originally part of the precinct of St John's Priory just up the road, then it became an 18th century burial ground, followed by a Victorian ornamental garden. It's now a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation being the only green space in the area. Islington council have recently paid for the materials for a local volunteer group to "spruce up" the garden, installing bird boxes and bug hotels, a small pond and new planting. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops.
