A Cunning Plan.....
.....I could just about spy England on the horizon this morning. However, I was soon distracted by the first bite of toast and realised that I'd inadvertently bought the wrong marmalade yesterday. I'm a great fan of the Vintage Dundee variety and I'd accidentally picked-up the Dundee (non-vintage) version. It was a crushingly disappointing start to my day.
BBC Weather was displaying 3c for the village, so I ventured out on my bike to Newtown to track down Vintage Dundee Marmalade. Occasional icey puddles made it clear that the temperature was lower than forecast but having begun my quest, I was committed to finding the holy grail of shop-bought marmalades. Co-op came up trumps and I edged home mindful of the risk of falling and smashing my precious cargo.
After a lunch (which consisted of a marmalade sandwich obviously), the structural engineer arrived to examine my rafters and review the cunning plan for the house changes. He seemed satisfied that all was well and even had a look at the roof leak and provided some advice on the change needed to a recent roof repair which seems to have made matters worse. Handy fellows these structural engineers.
Sparky and I are watching a local history programme on YouTube now and one of us will have to start making tea soon. It's time he pulled his weight around here.
