Un/Common People.
I was volunteering as usual in Swindon Museum and Art this morning. Afterwards, I went to see the new exhibition called Un/Common People. The exhibition describes some of the folk art traditions of the Wessex area.
Details about this exhibit:
Artist unknown, model dog, woven from Wills 'Wild Woodbine' cigarette boxes, 1950s
Folk artists often use everyday materials to make objects.
This model dog was made by weaving strips cut from cigarette boxes. Making animals from cigarette boxes was popular during the mid-20th century. However, they were generally not valued and few survive today.
