Sugidama
These brown balls are made of fresh Japanese cedar branches tied together and clipped into a perfect sphere. Known as a sugidama, or more colloquially as a "sake indicator."
When displayed in front of a restaurant it indicates that they serve local sake and that it has aged enough to be perfect to drink. This new restaurant has opened in time to take advantage of prime sake season- New Year!
