Tube

The usual way to work is coffee at Shepherd's Bush and toast from the fifth-floor café. On the walk to the office today, I added a podcast, listening to another episode of the Dish podcast. This one was with Prue Leith: it was (again) excellent but pre-dates the King's coronation, so I was treated to an explanation of the Coronation Flan.

After work, a few of us went for a beer. I told everybody I had to leave to get the train to Shrewsbury from Euston, but drinks kept appearing, and I kept accepting. I am not sure why I do not have the willpower to leave early. Is it that I enjoy the company, or that I have a fear of missing out?

I stood at the end of the platform at White City, hoping the tube would arrive. Maybe I should have used the telephone to hurry the driver along. In the end, I had plenty of time to get the train, but I would have been stuck if there had been any delays.

PY was annoyed because he thought we were meeting to eat before the train. And I did feel quite guilty because, although we hadn't agreed to meet, we had discussed it. Ultimately, he bought a meal deal from Marks & Spencer, and we ate them on the way up to Crewe.

The journey was pretty uneventful. We had plenty of time to change at Crewe, but, for some reason, our connecting train was held for over 30 minutes at Crewe station; in the end, we hopped on a Shrewsbury-bound service that departed first, but we were still over thirty minutes late. That's a Delay Repay I will be making in a few days.
