At 4:15 pm, I was on the platform boarding a train to Richmond. I opted to travel round the loop directly, rather than changing, as it was both the right time and had no interchange, so I didn't need to worry about hobbling up and down stairs at Clapham Junction. My leg doesn't feel much improved, but I can walk a decent distance on the flat.
I met R and we made our way to Scott’s by the river. It's a relatively recently opened branch of the famous Mayfair establishment. It was very classy inside; the service was attentive, and the food and drink were perfect. Their festive lunch menu is served until 5:30 pm, and the fillet of pollock with cauliflower and woodland mushrooms was lovely. I added a side; the fried Brussels sprouts with kimchi dressing were even better than the main; in turn, they were outshone by the off-festive-menu oysters we started with—a wonderful meal.
Our pre-theatre food was because R had bought tickets to Henry Rowley at Richmond Theatre. Described by Sky News as "The British 'posh boy' who became one of the year's breakout TikTok stars", I enjoyed it, and I didn't feel old. So, that was a win.
I had never seen any of his work before. I didn't even know who we were seeing until earlier in the week when I concluded it best to be surprised and go without many preconceptions.
