Life in Sunny Dubai

By GadgetKid

Don't do this if you're afraid of heights

Had a nice lazy start to the weekend pottering around the Lodge and getting it into shape - just small stuff like finding places for new things. Went to London again to meet up with Dubai friends but this time, we drove in as G found cheap parking in central London online!

First stop after finding the car park (in Queensway) was Harrods! A store I do not visit often - in fact, it was only the second time ever in 18 years! Wow! It was impressive walking through the tiny bit we managed. Stopped long enough to have a cream tea in there, had a quick look at the memorial in LG level and then headed out to North Greenwich to have a ride on the Emirates Air Line cable cars.

It had started to drizzle by this time, but that didn't deter us. Unfortunately, again, there was only time to go across the river and come right back. (You have to get off and swipe your Oyster card though!) Headed back to Oxford Street as a bit more shopping needed to be done by our friends who are leaving the UK tomorrow morning. By now, the rain was steady and as none of us had neither a rain coat or umbrella, we all got soaked!! First time EVER for me (I'm far too prepared for these things normally.) Ended the day with dinner at Carluccio's in St Christopher's Square. They let us in despite how we looked!! G discovered a very effective hand blow dryer in the washroom so we all went and dried off. A great end to a really fun day.

Back to Queensway to get the car, and apart from a delay due to road works on Putney High Street, had a really good journey back home. Too late to try to post though at 12:30am...
