Shakespeare’s schoolroom
I was in Stratford today and noticed the schoolroom decorated for Christmas. This room was reputedly where Shakespeare studied. It was in use up until a few years ago as it is still part of King Edward the Sixth’s ( KES) Grammar School in Stratford, in fact our middle son who attended this school sat some exams in there, but it is now a museum. I’ve only been in the gift shop downstairs but I would like to do a proper visit one day. Whilst I was looking at it I could hear magnificent organ playing issuing from the Guild Chapel next door. I had a look inside and a young man from the school was practising carols on the organ. I listened for a few minutes , it was very atmospheric in the old place with no one else in there and just this amazing music being played. In the Bleak Mid winter as it happens.
Organ pipes in the extra.
