Misericords

I had to pop up to Dunblane this morning to collect my zero waste Christmas cake mix. I've been meaning to go to the Cathedral to photograph the intricately carved misericords in the choir. There are very few examples in Scotland . I thought all was lost when the cathedral door was firmly locked - I was an hour too early. Luckily for me though a very kind person in the cathedral  office had the key to the door and gave me a private viewing.

My main is the key holder's  favourite - the bat - and I've added two extras, the horse and the green man. The carving is old and the misericords aren't in use any more. The  cathedral is beautiful and I've visited it many times. This is the first time I've examined the carvings in the choir though.

Off to the nine year old's school Christmas concert soon then back home to pack. Away on a jaunt tomorrow .
