Christmas Cheer in the Forest
There's been quite a few big trees cleared around the cabin that we use to sell Christmas trees from each year. its a bit more draughty but it has opened up a magnificent view of Grizedale Pyke. Very seasonal with the sprinkles of snow on top.
The weekend was very busy with sales, trees being twirled, chosen and popped through the netting tubes nearly faster than our grand band of volunteers and staff could cope with, but on weekdays it all calms down a bit and there's time to appreciate the scenery.
We don't grow Christmas trees in our forest as it is far too steep to do all the thinning, weeding and pruning that is needed to create flocks of perfectly conical bauble hangers, suitable for the sitting room. We get them from other Forestry England sites in Scotland and Ireland which specialise in growing for good quality and shape.
