Thursday
Spring like temperatures with moisture from above today, our reservoirs are now filling nicely, unfortunately us humans use/waste so much of our stored water it would not surprise me if hose pipes were banned in certain areas next year.
This morning, Dippy and I started to tidy up and drain some of the areas by gateways where Water has been gathering for quite some time and caused a swampy muddy mess.
I suddenly noticed that Dippy was sitting rock steady facing the opposite way, we were in the same field as a dozen sheep. I closed the gate and commanded dippy walk behind me across the field to the next gate. He was very obedient until I opened up the next gate and said off you go! He did a U turn and with ears down headed towards the small flock who had been watching us intently, they were in the corner of the field in no time and formed a tighter position before I could get the message to Dippy to come back which again he did quite quickly.
I had been invited to a mince pie and warm drinks Christmas morning in Great Torrington which turned out to be quite fun and delicious pies too. Dippy and I were both successful in the raffle with some lovely prizes to bring away.
Next stop Bideford where we shared a tremendous bacon bap and cup of tea in a cafe-deli. A browse through the town provided a few interesting and useful items not on any of my lists.
We then popped up to see some of Dippy’s relatives and owners and to check on some of my belongings stored in a barn there.
Another cup of tea plenty of catch up and two hours later we headed back with two pheasants and a rabbit which I had stored in the freezer there.
All in all a very sociable day ending with a fish supper and gale force winds rocking us to sleep Zzzzzz
