What day is it?
Backblipped Friday 6th December
I was a bit surprised this morning to realise it was Sunday and we’ve been on board 4 days already. I love the fact that everyday things are different but follow a similar pattern. Finally made my way to the lounge at the front of the ship mid morning to join a Rotary and service club get together. There were about 7 of us who chattered about our clubs and what we do in the way of service to others. One of the chaos lives on Amelie island located in the very far north east of Florida.
I spotted the ships officer ready to ring ships bells at noon so grabbed a quick pic but missed seeing the bell being struck.
I opted for a very early lunch before a panel discussion on What does the future hold in British politics? Choir at 2 and hobby corner at 3 took care of the early part of the afternoon. The early evening found us in the Planetarium for a laid back show about the planets. The chairs reclined so you could watch the show overhead but I found it a little cramped.
We’d booked the speciality steak restaurant and were bemused to see both couples we’d met at the first gala night also enjoying a meal there. We decided to push the boat out and order some caviar to share for a pre starter. It was outstanding and on checking the price when we got home we realised the price charged on the ship was a huge bargain. My ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were so tasty. And the wine, whilst more than we’ve ever spent on a bottle before, was absolutely stunning. I was almost too full for pudding!
A quick trip down to the lounge bar in time for the Late night book quiz hosted by Natk Billingham. We found seats beside a lady sitting in her own who was happy to join us in a team. We didn’t do too badly as we ended up with 64 points. Some of the authors and speakers were in the team closest to us and we swapped papers with them for the marking and were rather surprised to realise they’d scored less than us. One of the team was Ruth Jones who kindly signed an autograph for me after the quiz finished before being called up to sing Islands in the stream!
Bed called.
