Quintus and the spanner
Quintus, the small hand sized toy mallard duck, is a very important part of my workplace team. He lives at my computer desk, but is available for students (young adults with multiple additional needs of all varieties) to borrow in times of crisis.
I initially thought he'd be really useful with our visually impaired students particularly when adapting some of the more visual maths work and they have to describe the position of something, but he's proved very popular across the range of our students, including one group of young men who will go down in my memory as one of the loveliest groups I have ever worked with in this environment.
He's admiring the largest spanner in the collection in one of our curriculum area workshops. I took the picture for another purpose, but then realised it was the only one I took for this date! I forgot to measure the spanner, but it's around 18 inches long, I reckon, and not light.
