Friday fun!
You never know what you might see on a visit to Tesco. It made me smile.
It was very busy in the store today - somewhat chaotic in places. Perhaps people have dashed to get some stocks in before the storm arrives.
It was very windy last night and not forecast - today there were some branches on the ground from the trees on the avenue. I hate to think what the effects of the amber warning weather is going to be.
At least we are not in the red zone (according to the forecast) and I feel for the people who are. We are in the amber zone which is bad enough. It has put a lot of rain down yesterday and today - roads have been closed due to flooding in our town (St Helens) and car parks were flooded in some areas too.
We won't be going out now till the storm has passed. This is one good thing about retirement - I've had to negotiate lots of bad weather in the past to get to work though. I hope everyone who has to go out in the storm gets through it OK.
The birds in the garden have been eating the seeds faster than usual. There are lots of them though. There were about 20 goldfinches there at one time yesterday, battling over the feeders! Besides those there were tits and robins with the occasional greenfinch. Several wood pigeons, collared doves and blackbirds were "hoovering up" below the feeders. I forgot to mention that the squirrels sometimes dine from one of the feeders too. We have 6 feeders hanging with 2 perches on each but they are not enough at present. 5 of the feeders are sunflower hearts and the other is mixed seed which the tits prefer. They will have to manage or move on because we are not putting out more than 6!
