Quieter

This morning I got up late and, after walking Django, I worked a bit, before heading into work. PhD student Y leaves for China (by way of Milan) tomorrow, so I wanted to have a good chat with her. I took in some leftovers from last night and earlier in the week, and we shared them in the common room. She's engaging well with our collaborator from KCL - who was at dinner with us last night - and will be working on something that will at least be a good research exercise. In the afternoon we went through this in more detail, and then got on with our own work.

Although Y went (briefly) to the School Christmas party when it started, I couldn't bring myself to go. I'm very uncomfortable at large social gatherings - particularly ones full of mathematicians! - so I just went home.
