Everyday I Write The Book

By Eyecatching

Oh Christmas tree

Went up to London. The train stopped at west byfleet and about twenty cubs got on with about ten handlers. At one point three of the adults started unfurling a large piece of cloth as if arranging a safety net but I think it was a flag. Apparently they were headed for a Carol service in Westminster Cathedral. I remembered being thrown out of the cubs after four weeks in 1968 for arguing with the Akela.

The cubs started practicing singing God Save The King at one point and then got told off for substituting other words for “king” and being too noisy.

We asked the man next to us, who was one of the accompanying adults, whether he would be singing in the cathedral. He said no, he was only there because his wife was one of the leaders. He was going to sit in a pub and drink beer.

We walked from Waterloo to King’s Cross where markets beckoned. A very pretty walk it was too,  over the bridge to Covent Garden then Kingsway to Bloomsbury where we stopped for a fabulous pint of plum porter. Finally to King’s Cross where the shops and markets were in full flow.

Bought loads of vegan cakes and some bits for each other for Christmas.

Stopped off to see S&B in Bonnington Square for a couple of hours before coming home.

The blip is lights in a park on Southampton Row.

23,000 steps.

Few extra pics here.
