The companionship of the Long Distance Runner
Early start to get to Grafham Water for the ATW 10 mile Cani-Cross. Luna and me and C and her imaginary dog. We met up with L and Skylar and J and Loki.
Luna very excited at registration and waiting for the start.
The people who fancied their chances at a podium place were encouraged to start at the front and the rest of us were filtered through to stagger the start.
This meant that Luna had people and dogs to chase and she did! The first two K were at 4 mins/K. After that, the field thinned out and we settled down a bit. There were two other pairs around us. The pattern was that we would slowly overtake them and then they would take us at the drink stations. They both overtook us with a mile to go just as L was slowing down a bit - and this gave her someone to chase home.
1:13 4:31/k was a good pace. Especially as it was L’s longest run. I’ve only once gone further.
12th overall, 7th Male, first old person.
C and the others cane in strongly after a bit.
Cuppa and post-mortem then drive home for a chill afternoon.
Very pleased with Luna’s performance and behaviour. And C’s!
