34th & Belmont

There’s a tea house on Belmont, which has been there for many years. It feels comfy and safe. I met a teacher friend there to talk about the shock and horror of the upcoming presidency. When we were teaching together years ago, she lamented the lack of teaching of “critical thinking skills” in our reading program. I remember the dumbing down of literature in our program, thanks to a push by right wing Texas educators. Well, that’s just one prong of this unfolding disaster in our country, but it was nice to acknowledge what we experienced, and reconnect.
