Performance ready
Back blipped Saturday 7th December
A slightly later breakfast before our final rehearsal at 10. I had time for a quick walk on deck and an early lunch before listening to Ruth Jones, Christopher Brookmyre and Louise Mivhin discuss the jobs that made them with Daisy Goodwin.
Had to be in the Grand Lobby dressed in white tops and black trousers by 1.30 for a group photo. These were available to purchase at $30 apiece so I declined. We sang our repertoire accompanied by David on the grand piano.
A fun medley, The Rose, Can’t help falling in love, all that jazz, and Bring him home. We had a reasonable large audience who were quite enthusiastic in their applause so we sang You raise me up as an encore.
It was a real feel good activity to be part of and I was buzzing when we finished. Lydia, my new friend from hobby corner was in the audience along with Mr PHL who took many pictures and videos. The three of us then joined the queue for author signings. Lydia and I wanted to see Daisy Goodwin and Mr PHL had bought Robin Niblet’s book on the Cold War. Daisy was lovely and complimented me on our singing.
I decided to treat myself to a celebratory drink at hobby corner and we had such a fun couple of hours chatting and crafting. One of the ladies, P, revealed she is part of an undercover yarn bombing group who have decorated their town during the grey days in February for the last few years. No one knows who the group is and they’ve had their work on national tv. I’ve offered to make some flowers for them as they need thousands for their Summer theme next year. I’d better set to making them soon!
The Times journalist Patrick Maguire talked us through a wrap up of the festival in 30 minutes. It was a lovely way to end the formal part of the festival.
We were fortunate to secure a table in the section with the lovely waiter and bizarrely saw the young honeymoon couple again too. We headed to the bar for a movie madness trivia quiz where I spotted a couple of the show team guys who had joined the choir. They had purchased the photo and kindly let me take a picture of it.
We headed back to finish packing and put the cases outside to be magically transported to the dockside when we reach New York in the morning.
