Storm Darragh
The storm started last night... kept waking me up in the night with a sound like a train roaring past the house! Lots of bumps and bangs and not a lot of sleep.. ah well. The whole day has been filled with wind and rain.. just horrible. I have gone through more stuff from the cupboard and cleaned out the bowl cupboard in the kitchen as well as a shelf in the larder.. two more to do! Feeling happy with the indoor work being done before Christmas, it will make everything easier.
Our eldest daughter has appeared with a rather frazzled cat.. the wind always gets in her tail and the cat flap on the boat has been broken so last night she spent the night on the boat alone locked in as the flap is likely to lock her out so better inside in this weather. They are busy making a dress together .. to be honest Jasper is not a lot of help and likes to hide under the pattern or sit on the bit you need to pin.. oh the fun of it! They will be here for the night so I had better go and rustle up some supper from somewhere! (I didn't do a weekend shop so there isn't much.. perhaps a lentil bake... hmm.. will have to have a ponder.
Chatted with a friend down in Dorset (who is anxious in the wind) but thankfully she is sheltered from the worst of the wind in her valley this time and we had just been grateful for having no power cut when our lights went out! Glad it was only for a half minute or so but now I am keeping a candle lit so that we are not plunged into total darkness.
Keep safe it is very nasty out there!
